KNOCKOUT TOURNAMENT - JANUARY 2006
The January 3rd Tournament as won by ANGELO ALI [again] with commiserations to finalist NICK PAPADOPOULOS. It appears the match was closer than the win suggests [ or at least that’s what Nick says].
KNOCK OUT TOURNAMENTS— FEBRUARY 2006
The February 7th Tournaments were won by CLAUDIE TROMP (who did the draw and drew MARK GRINDLAY in the first round—much to Mark’s utter amazement) to finalist EMMANUEL LAVRENTIADIS and JOHN O’GRADY from hard charging ANGELO ALI [again in the winning circle].
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Scheduled for Tuesday the 28th February 2006, after which a light supper will be served. All committee positions become vacant and the Association’s audited accounts will be presented. All are welcome. |
SA OPEN BACKGAMMON TOURNAMENT— ADELAIDE HILTON—FEBRUARY 26th 2006
The 28th SA OPEN has at least one interstate entrant, that of SIMON WOODHEAD who diligently manages the webpage that hosts all Australian Clubs, including the ours, the Backgammon Association of SA. He does a fantastic job at this and we look forward to seeing how he performs on the day. A couple of other interstate players have expressed an interest but we will see on the day. MEMBERSHIP 2006—NOW DUE !
All members’ current as at the end of 2005 will be deemed to be current until after the SA Open, the 26th February 2006, as far as the league goes. After that date, if players are not financial, their records will be erased form the league sheet. So it is the interests of all players to ask if their opponents is financial, else any hard won games may go to waste. Unless players renew their membership for 2006, members rate is not available for entry into the SA OPEN.
