The
Sydney Backgammon Club

Welcome to the Sydney Backgammon Club. If this is your first visit, we suggest you read the Sydney Backgammon Club FAQ. If you're new to backgammon and would like an overview of the game, see the Sydney Backgammon FAQ.
Click here for a PDF flier with all the details for you to print out or to give to a friend. The club meets each Tuesday from 7:00pm on the first floor of The Tea Gardens Hotel, 2-4 Bronte Rd, Bondi Junction (opposite Spring St). There is ample parking at various Westfield car parks and the venue is a minute's walk from the bus and rail interchange.
Contact organiser Mimi at the club on arrival. Our mission is to promote the game of backgammon in a competitive, fun and social environment. Participation in the club tournaments and games is open to all players subject to the regulations governing access to the Hotel's licensed premises.
The club is run as a not for profit organization. All entry fees to tournaments and competitions are returned in full to the successful entrants to the events. The club charges a nominal table fee of $3 per player per night for regular members. The table fees are used by the club for the benefit of members, to purchase trophies, prizes and for periodic social functions.
Format:
The format for Sydney Backgammon at the Tea Gardens has changed as there have been many inquiries from people who are beginners to intermediate and I am happy to accommodate this as well as for advanced players. If you are interested in coming to play at the Tea Gardens could you please email or call Mimi and advise me of your level. Mimi will send an email to all interested every Thursday; those who are interested in playing the following Tuesday will be notified Monday night as to what format we will be playing and confirm if they are still attending. Please make sure you contact Mimi before turning up at the Tea Gardens to see if there are games running.
Friendly Games:
Friendly games can be played at anytime - if you do not want to enter into the tournament, this is a good opportunity to build your backgammon skills up.
Information for Newcomers, Visitors, Casual Players etc
There is no obligation to participate in the formal tournaments. The club welcomes beginners and social players and provides backgammon boards and dice for the use of all types of players in the venue on club nights. Beginners are always welcome and many regular club members are usually available to give informal lessons and advice.
