Next Meeting :
12th September 2010 |
9 Aug 10 - Looks like the Newcastle contigent ( Tony Walker & Mick "The Monster" Dyett ) have played well and are racing away with the lead ! Only problem is, they have the formidable Jim Bean sitting in their path, and once there, he is going to be very hard to beat. Once again, great to have a good turnout, even in the middle of winter, and we filled a field of 32 quite easily. Good to see a couple of new faces.... if you haven't come along yet, then our next tournament will be held on Sunday 12th Sep.
12 Jul 10 - Dave Reitzin and Mick Dyett ended up splitting the points & cash for 1st place. Semi finalists were Steve Davy and Tony Walker.
14 Jun 10 - Mick Dyett and Ivor got knocked out in the semis and Jim Bean and Steve Tia were to play the final. It had been a long day and Steve had to wait a long time for the other matches so Steve and Jim decided to split the cash and the points.
10 May 10 - Latest meeting report from Ben:
"Hi All, Just an update on yesterdays monthly backgammon comp at Ryde Ex Services Club. It seems even Mothers Day couldn't keep the keen backgammoners away yesterday, with a field of 32 being filled with no problems ! We had a big contingent of "Coasties" make their way down to have a go at toppling the Sydney siders but sadly as the rounds progressed, the coasties toppled away like pieces in a game of Jenga.... Jim Bean was up to his usual tricks of rolling like God himself but met his fate in the Semi Final against an in form Steve Clarry. The other Semi Final was contested by Tony Walker and Colin Tyte, with Colin stopping Tony from making back to back finals. So the final was to be played by Steve Clarry and Colin Tyte, who, in unusual fashion, decided to play a short 3 point match ! Maybe one of them had found themselves a hot date and wanted to scoot out of there. Whatever the reason, it was all over quicker than my first time with Steve Clarry coming out on top and thus taking out equal leadership in overall points with Tony Walker....
I have attached the updated leaderboard and included the end of season prizes as well. With end of season prizes of $1000 there's no better place to roll the dice than at Ryde Ex Services on the 2nd Sunday of each month ! The next tournament will be held on Sunday 13th June and I hope to see many of you there...... until then, may all your rolls be doubles and all your cubes be beavered !.
I have attached a pdf file with all of the details for the monthly comp (next one is Sun June 13th) , let me know of any questions.... Cheers, Ben Phillips"
