16 Dec 11 - Well 2011 has come and gone and we have now finished our 2nd season of Monthly Backgammon tournaments at Ryde Ex Services Club. A big thank you to everyone who has supported the club throughout the year, without you guys turning up there would be no club ! Also, thanks to Ryde Ex Services Club for providing us with somewhere to play this great game !! Throughout the year we ran 11 tournaments and managed to fill a field of 32 at every single one of them !!

They say the cream rises to the top and Mick Dyett has shown us yet again why he is regarded as one of the best ( if not THE best ) backgammon player in this country !! Over the year Mick has dominated the leaderboard and ended not just winning but demolishing the rest of us !! Congratulations to Mick for yet another outstanding performance in Australian Backgammon. For topping the leaderboard, Mick takes the lion's share of the $1000 prizemoney on offer throughout the season. Also, congratulations to David Reitzin & Colin Tyte who finished 2nd ( $300 ) and 3rd ( $200 ) respectively.........

I look forward to next year and hope that we can continue building up the club with more players. Please feel free to bring along anyone interested in learning the game, there's some great players that attend every month with a lot to teach new players. If you haven't played our tournaments yet, then we'd love to see you. So much in fact that starting in January any player that comes along for the first time to our Monthly Comp (that has never played at Ryde Ex Services Monthly tournaments in the past) , will have the $25 entry fee paid for !!!

Our first tournament for season 3 will be held on Sun 15th Jan starting at midday. I have attached all relevant info and also the updated leaderboard after last tournament. Have a great Christmas & New Years !!!!!

23 Nov 11 - Just an update after Sunday's tournament with Jim Bean beating Stefan Post in the final….. I've attached the updated leaderboard and tournament info. After speaking to everyone on Sunday, looks like all are keen to hold another tournament next month so we will have our last tournament of the year on Sun Dec 11, hope to see many of you there !!

13 Oct 11 - With just one more tournament left for the season, Mick "The Monster" Dyett has sewn up 1st place and the $500 Prizemoney !!  2nd ( $300 ) & 3rd ( $200 )  are still up for grabs.... As we have the Australian Open Backgammon Championships on the 2nd Sunday next month, the monthly tournament will be held the following Sunday, the 20th.

Hope to see many of you there for the Aus Open, now just weeks away !!

13 Feb 11 - Another good turnout on Sun and the 32 player field was easily filled. Mick "The Monster" Dyett and Robbie Solomon split the points and cash in the final. I have attached the updated leaderboard and tournament info. The next tournament will be on Sun 12th June, hope to see you all there,

Cheers, Ben Phillips

PRIZES - The top 3 placed players at the end of November will win the following * :

1st: $500
2nd: $300
3rd: $200

* In the event of a tie, the higher number of games played will dictate the winner
