Participation in either event is open to all, and eliminated players will be eligible to re-enter with a buy-back as long as places remain open. Players eliminated from the Championship Division may choose to subsequently enter the Intermediate division, however it is not permitted to enter both divisions at the same time.

Matches played in the Intermediate Division are cubeless - this serves to reduce the skill advantage of experienced players and is designed to encourage broad participation from casual and ethnic-type players. Gammons and backgammons will count as normal. The Intermediate Division aims to attract 64 total entries (including buy-backs) which should provide opportunity for players eliminated from the Championship Division to continue playing throughout the day.

A full set of tournament rules will be published shortly and available to all players on the day. The Tournament will be run by a disinterested (i.e he will not play in the events) Tournament Director.

The venue is located close to the CBD and 5 minutes walk from the Kings Cross railway station. Smoking and non-smoking areas will be available to players, with choice of seating given to non-smoker. Food will be available from the Hotel throughout the day.
